Burmese Cat is a quick Listed winner for Tiger Ridge!

WILGERBOSDRIFT's stallion Tiger Ridge had his first Listed winner from only a handful of early runners in South Africa when Burmese Cat (Johnny Geroudis), packed too much speed for Legislature and Zanzamar in the Ruffian Stakes over 1000m at the Vaal on Saturday. Mike de Kock said: “Jehan Malherbe bought Tiger Ridge for Mary Slack and we formed the Tiger Ridge Syndicate with more or less the same members as the Rich Man's Gold syndicate. I am pleased for Mary who took the knock when Rich Man's Gold died and now has what looks like a really top class stallion in Tiger Ridge.'' Mike added: “Keep an eye too on the third horse Zanzamar, he finished powerfully and will win soon.''

Imbongi, railside, storms through to win Zabeel Mile

SUPPORTERS of Imbongi had visions of him being squeezed and eased out of Friday night's Group 2 Zabeel Mile, but Christophe Soumillon changed direction, geared down and sent his mount into a gap on the rail. He responded bravely, got to the front and held on to win. Read more.

Stable's incredible form brings another four-timer!

Imperial Palace

Sweetie Pie

Honour in Gold

Equiparada

It's hard to recall when last any stable had a run of winners like the one Mike de Kock's team is experiencing at the moment. Not to be outdone by his fellow assistants in Dubai and Johannesburg, KwaZulu-Natal's Nathan Kotzen saddled a four-timer at Scottsville on Wednesday, 3 March. The stable leading owners were once again in the limelight. Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum's Imperial Palace and Equiparada won their respective Maidens in commanding fashion, promising more to come. Mary Slack's Sweetie Pie kept punters happy in a tricky Fillies Handicap and Honour in Gold chalked up a win for the Rich Man's Gold Syndicate. They were all well handled by Anthony Delpech, who has added six wins to his own growing tally in two meetings. (Photos: Gold Circle).

Norwegian  owner visits Turffontein

NORWEGIAN Erik Lobben, who owns Roi Normands filly Here To Win with partner Morten Myhre, visited Turffontein last Saturday to see his filly run on strongly for fourth in the Grade 2 Gauteng Fillies Guineas. Both partners are racing fanatics and have owned dozens of horses over the last several years, including two Derby winners. Erik is a teacher and racing journaist and lives outside Oslo near the Salmon River. Erik has a high respect for Mike de Kock, whom he met while racing in Dubai. The partnership is keen to extend its racing interests in South Africa. “Racing is small in Norway and we've achieved our goals here, so we'd like to spread our wings,“ he says. He is am avid form student too and enjoyed his outing to Turffontein. We wish Erik and Morten well for the future and thank them for their support.
