THURSDAY was the second biggest meeting on the UAE racing calendar, Super Thursday, mirroring the race conditions of the big night in just over three weeks time.
Mr Brock was a great third in the featured Group 2 Maktoum Challenge over the 1m2f Tapeta course and distance as the Dubai World Cup. Lizard's Desire was fifth in the same race and both pleased their trainer who said: "We have to be delighted with them both. That was a good race and look at some of the horses thay have been beaten. I am looking forward to World Cup night."
Solid Choice was never really able to land a blow in the Listed Al Bastakiya, a comment which could apply to Biarritz, returning from a year off, in the Group 3 Burj Nahaar, over a mile on the Tapeta. “This wasn't his run, it looks like he needs gelding,“ assessed De Kock.
Golden Sword fared best of the De Kock trio in the Group 2 City of Gold (2485m – approx 1m41/1f) and was only headed close home when third, while Zirconeum did not fire in the runs in the concluding Group 2 Jebel Hatta. “This was a big run and he will be a factor in the Sheema Classic,'' commented the trainer.
